What to Send for a Custom Sign Quote: Artwork, Dimensions and Site Inputs

For a useful custom sign quotation, send the artwork, approximate dimensions, quantity and installation context together. If some inputs are unknown, label them as open decisions. This lets the manufacturer distinguish an initial budget estimate from a quotation based on an approved construction.

Supply artwork that preserves the geometry

A vector logo is preferred for evaluating outlines, letter spacing and small details. Include a reference image showing the intended appearance. If only a raster image is available, say whether redraw work is needed and provide at least one reliable overall dimension.

Explain what the sign must do

Identify the product type, illuminated or non-illuminated appearance, indoor or outdoor location and viewing context. Include finish preferences and any brand standard. A reference photograph can communicate an effect, but it should not be treated as a complete material or mounting specification.

Show the site and interfaces

Provide a wide site photograph plus closer views of the mounting area. State the wall material if known, likely cable route, available power information and whether existing holes or supports must be reused. The installer should confirm site-specific dimensions and conditions before the construction is released.

Make the commercial assumptions visible

State quantities by design or location, destination, required delivery date and the scope expected from the factory. Separate fabrication, transport and local installation. For repeat programs, identify the initial prototype and later batches. Ask the quotation to list unresolved assumptions so comparison between suppliers is meaningful.

Buyer review checklist

  • Logo and reference appearance
  • Dimensions and quantities
  • Product and finish preferences
  • Site photographs and mounting context
  • Power information and open decisions
  • Destination, schedule and supply scope

Can I request a quote before I know the final dimensions?

Yes. Supply your best estimate and identify it as provisional. The estimate should state which assumptions must be confirmed before price and construction are finalized.
