Sourcing Custom LED Signs From China: A Technical Buyer Checklist

Sourcing custom LED signs from China is easier to compare when the product type and installation conditions are defined before supplier selection. LED neon, channel letters and light boxes use different constructions. A general request for an “LED sign” leaves too many technical and commercial assumptions open.

Define the optical and physical result

Identify the sign type, dimensions, artwork, finish and intended illuminated appearance. Provide the viewing context and any relevant brand sample. Ask the supplier to explain construction limitations before approving a rendering that may not reflect the proposed assembly.

Review the complete electrical configuration

Request the selected LED and power-component identities, intended input information and control requirements. Distinguish component documentation from evidence concerning the finished product. Give the destination requirements to the supplier at quotation stage and agree who reviews them.

Inspect evidence appropriate to the product

For a neon outline, review shape, joints and mounting; for a light box, review face fit, illumination and service access; for channel letters, review returns, spacing and fixing interfaces. A factory portfolio should support this discussion rather than replace an order-specific drawing and inspection record.

Plan repeatability and handover

Control the approved revision, substitutions and packing identifiers. Define the documents and labels the receiving installer needs. Agree support arrangements for the supplied configuration so later replacements can be ordered by a traceable reference.
