Importing Channel Letters From China: Drawings, Packaging and Installer Handover

Importing channel letters requires a coordinated manufacturing and receiving plan. Before dispatch, the buyer should be able to match the physical letters, drawing revision, packing list and installation references. Keep the customs and freight arrangements with the parties responsible for the actual route.

Close the production package

Confirm the final drawing, material and electrical configuration, quantities and inspection evidence. List items intentionally supplied locally. Resolve outstanding changes before packing so photographs and document references describe the goods actually shipped.

Review the package with the receiving team

Check dimensions, handling information and access at the delivery point. Map each letter and accessory to its carton. Include the mounting template and scale reference where required, and protect projecting studs and cable tails during transit.

Assign shipment documentation responsibilities

Identify who prepares the commercial invoice, packing list and transport documents and who handles import clearance. Agree shipping terms and destination charges in the transaction. The appointed logistics or customs specialist should determine the applicable classification, taxes and documentation; avoid generic online estimates as a final project budget.

Prepare an installation-ready handover

Send the installer the released drawing set, component identifiers and relevant instructions before delivery. On receipt, record package condition and check contents against the list. Keep any discrepancy tied to a carton and sign identifier so the supplier can respond precisely.

Buyer review checklist

  • Released production and inspection record
  • Carton-to-letter mapping
  • Dimensions and unloading access
  • Named freight and clearance roles
  • Final installer documents
  • Receiving condition and contents check

Does arrival at the port mean the signs are ready to install?

No. Clearance, onward delivery, receiving checks and local installation preparation still need to be completed under the project plan.
