Custom Channel Letters for German Projects: Sourcing and Technical Documentation

For a channel-letter project in Germany, organize the technical record before ordering: product identity, drawings, component information and the applicable conformity documentation. Then coordinate the local building and electrical interface separately. A generic certificate file with no connection to the ordered configuration has little value.

Identify the product and responsible roles

Ask the parties placing the product on the market to establish the applicable EU requirements and their responsibilities. Your Europe explains that CE marking applies only where the relevant harmonised rules require it and that the manufacturer is responsible for the complete product. This is a documentation review, not a claim that PridLED holds a particular certification.

Build a configuration-specific record

Use a sign identifier across drawings, component lists and applicable declarations. Verify that documents describe the delivered version rather than a different model. Keep substitutions visible so a changed power component or construction can be reviewed for its effect on the technical record.

Coordinate the German project documents

Agree with the buyer and local installer which instructions, labels and handover information they need in German. Have the project team confirm site approvals, mounting and electrical connection requirements. A translated drawing should retain the same revision and controlling dimensions as the factory release.

Retain the installed configuration

Record locally supplied parts and any site changes in the as-built package. Keep service-access information and replacement references with the facilities team. This provides a practical link between the imported product record and the sign actually installed.

Buyer review checklist

  • Product identity and responsible roles
  • Applicable conformity evidence
  • Matching drawing and component revision
  • Agreed German-language documents
  • Local site interface
  • As-built and replacement references

Is a generic “CE certificate” enough to release the order?

No. Review the applicable requirements and evidence for the actual product. Official EU guidance warns that voluntary certificates may not establish the required conformity assessment.
