Concealed Wiring for Restaurant and Hospitality Signs
For restaurant and hospitality signs, concealed wiring should be planned with the interior finishes and service access. A clean guest-facing appearance depends on where cables leave each sign element, where the power supply sits and how the installation can be maintained after the venue opens.
Coordinate the sign with the finish schedule
Identify tile, stone, timber, metal or decorative wall panels and the team responsible for each interface. Confirm which areas can be opened or drilled. Place cable exits on a coordinated drawing before the finish contractor closes the wall.
Choose a concealment method that can be built
Individual letter exits, a rear carrier or a backing panel create different visual and installation results. Review the proposal from normal guest viewpoints, including side views. A concealed cable should not depend on an unsupported assumption that there is an accessible void behind every letter.

Plan service around the occupied venue
Locate power components where qualified service personnel can reach them without unnecessary disturbance to finished areas. Consider furniture, kitchen equipment and operating hours when agreeing access. Component suitability should be checked against the actual location, including heat or cleaning exposure where relevant.
Handover the concealed route
Record cable exits, supply position and the final component configuration in the as-built information. Label separate signs so the maintenance team can identify the correct circuit or supply through the responsible electrical documentation. Keep the handover accessible to the venue’s facilities team.

Can all wiring be hidden without a backing panel?
It may be possible when the wall provides a coordinated cable route. Where access is limited, a carrier or panel may offer a more practical arrangement; review its appearance before approval.
