Sign Installation Guide for Contractors
Raceway mounting, standoff installation, power supply placement and cable routing. A practical guide for sign installation professionals.
Proper installation is critical for sign longevity and warranty coverage. Here's what to plan before the sign arrives.
Wall Surface Preparation
Ensure the fascia or mounting wall is flat and structurally sound. Brick, composite panel and aluminum composite (ACM) are all suitable. Gaps and uneven surfaces cause mounting stress.
Raceway Mounting
The raceway is the metal channel that houses wiring and power supplies. Mount the raceway level first, then attach letters to pre-marked positions. Use stainless steel screws and wall anchors rated for the wall material.
Power Supply Placement
Mount LED drivers in a weather-accessible location (above the sign, inside the building, or in a weatherproof box). Allow 5cm clearance around the driver for ventilation.
Cable Routing
Route low-voltage DC wiring away from high-voltage AC lines to avoid interference. Use waterproof connectors at all outdoor junction points. Test before sealing the raceway.
