How to Specify Channel Letters That Quote Correctly

Most quote delays come from missing details. This checklist covers letter height, return depth, face material, lighting type, mounting and voltage — everything needed for an accurate first quote.

Quote delays almost always come from incomplete specifications. Use this checklist to provide everything needed for an accurate first quote.

1. Letter Height and Width

Specify the height of the tallest letter (e.g., 45cm). If the logo has custom shapes, provide the total sign width and height. If you have a drawing, send it — dimensions on a drawing are always more accurate than written estimates.

2. Return Depth

Common depths are 5cm, 8cm and 10cm. Deeper returns look more substantial but cost more. For storefront signs under 60cm letter height, 5-8cm is standard.

3. Face Material

Acrylic face is standard. UV-printed acrylic matches brand colors exactly. Polycarbonate is available for impact-prone environments.

4. Lighting Type

Front-lit: Light shines through the face — brightest, most visible from a distance.
Halo-lit (reverse): Light shines on the wall behind — premium look, softer glow.
Dual-lit: Both front and halo — maximum visibility, highest cost.

5. Mounting

Raceway mounted on fascia, standoff on composite panel, or flush mounted on brick. Each requires different preparation. Include the wall material if known.

6. Voltage

110-120V for North America, 220-240V for Europe/Asia. We specify the correct LED drivers for your destination.

7. Quantity

Single signs or multi-store rollouts. Volume pricing applies at 5+ signs.
